Panchakarma is not indicated for people with serious infections, over 65 years of age or under 12, pregnant women, diabetes, on a post-operation process, epilepsy, anemia, specific chronic diseases, heart diseases, and cancer.
It is the most effective method of the Ayurveda tradition. It is created to purify and detoxify the organism and establish a new condition of physical and mental balance in a completely natural and personalized way.
The “miracle” of the human body is that it has its own natural intelligence capable of constantly rejuvenating itself. However, when imbalances occur, your digestion capacity is weakened thus forming impurities and toxins (ama). This natural intelligence of the body is blocked and toxins are becoming more and more entrenched. To remedy this situation, Ayurveda develops the Panchakarma technique considered the “science of rejuvenation.” In this process, the body is purified of the degenerative influence of toxins, naturally releasing and restoring the rejuvenating abilities.
Panchakarma is based on enhancing the fire of the digestive system to eliminate impurities stored in the body that cannot be processed due to the accumulation in places such as the liver, brain, lymph, etc. that do not have such a transforming capacity of digestive fire. These toxins accumulated in adipose tissues are the cause of all kinds of disorders since they can remain for years. Panchakarma therapy is intended to direct the toxins accumulated throughout the body to the digestive system so that they are expelled once the digestive fire is strengthened and trained.
For example, a cleanse based on natural juices does a good job to make the body burn fat but does not restore the digestive force, does not balance blood sugar, does not have the ability to detoxify the entire body, nor does help the mental and emotional cleansing process.
Your transformative retreat kicks off on October 31st upon your arrival at Domus de Maçanós, located in Ripoll, Girona, Spain. Settle into the Masia, a beautifully renovated 11th-century Catalonian home, where rejuvenation awaits you. The first day is designed to help you unwind with forest mindfulness walks, yoga nidra, and meditation, along with an introductory talk to set the detox mindset.
On November 1st, you’ll begin with individual Ayurveda consultations that include pulse and tongue diagnosis, followed by preparation therapies for Panchakarma, known as Purvakarma. Activities will involve internal and external body oleation (snehana), as well as steam therapy (swedana) to enhance your digestive fire in anticipation of the main Panchakarma therapies.
From November 2nd through November 9th, your personalized Panchakarma experience unfolds. This period, called Pradanakarma, features a range of therapies tailored to you, such as:
Virechana: To optimize digestive health
Vamana: To cleanse the respiratory and gastric systems
Nasya: For nostril and sinus cleansing
Basthi: To flush out toxins and waste from the large intestine and excretory system
Each of these therapies will be adapted to your individual constitution or dosha, ensuring a truly personalized experience. The retreat culminates with Paschatkarma, focusing on recovery and post-care to seamlessly reintegrate you into your daily life. 🌿🧘♀️✨

- The body generates a much more effective toxin elimination mechanism since the body’s functionality is restored.
- The natural weight of the body is restored since digestion is much more active and supports both absorption and elimination of what you eat.
- Strong impact on an emotional level since the mind regenerates in the same way as the body.
- Behavior patterns are eliminated and enthusiasm, happiness, and energy increase.
- Reversal of the negative effects of stress on the body and mind, which slows the premature aging process.
- Prevention of the disease process and correction of the dosha or constitution of the body in imbalance.
- Rest and deep relaxation for permanent wellbeing.
1. Vamana
The process by which the doshas Kapha and Pitta are eliminated from the stomach through the mouth (vomiting). It works in the earth and water element (Kapha) but also works in Pitta dosha since Pitta has action in the lower part of the stomach. This therapy will only be performed in very specific cases.
2. Virechana
The process by which the unbalanced Pitta is eliminated from the body is through the anal passage (purging). This activity balances the three doshas of the gastrointestinal tract but is mainly effective in the organs of Pitta dosha (liver, gallbladder, etc.) since it works in the elements of water and fire.
1. Nasya
This treatment begins with a facial massage and specific heat therapies of the forehead and face. It is followed by nasal administration of certain herbal oils to clean and purify the sinuses. Nasya is typically used for allergies, snoring, sinusitis, tinnitus, sleep apnea, and headaches. It is a valuable help to increase mental concentration.
2. Basthi
Medicated oils and decoctions are administered in the large intestine through enemas. It is the main therapy for Vata dosha at its primary site of the colon and works primarily in the air element. Charaka (one of the most important authors of Ayurveda science) says that while Vamana, Virechana, and Nasya form 50 percent of Panchakarma, Basti is the other 50 percent.
